The journal wasn't hers. Not really. Wardens were meant to protect the stories, not write them. On Kandaria, paper was sacred. It now holds sketches of strange creatures, notable scribbles sideways in the margins, pressed leaves, half-legible star maps. It was messy. Glorious. Alive. If she could get home, the Ehule would make her a Scribe. She was sure of it.
